12th February Tau Online has now moved hosts. Server stability should hopefully be higher.
4th December Tau Online has joined up with a company called the Gorilla Tactics Gamer's Union. They're a mail order company, and you can get 30% off various (GW-related) purchases via this offer. Great for the pre-Christmas rush ;) (Although this offer will extend further than Christmas).
23rd November A new "Fun And Games" section has just been opened (under the "Miscellaneous" section of the menu bar).
1st September

Tau Online Version 7 has been released! The website and forums have had re-designs, and also the forum's software has been upgraded to SMF 2.0 (from SMF 1.1).

One hopefully useful organisational change to the website is when viewing articles in a specific category (i.e. fluff and stories, Eldar articles etc). You can filter the articles by their type (i.e. Eldar house rules, or Tau fluff etc) by clicking on the link in the navigation bar and you can also filter the articles by their rating, name or when they were added to Tau Online.

18th August Vote in the TOGSS competition Grand Summer Story Competition today! View past news.
11th March Farseer Tyross is now an admin of Tau Online, to help out with the running of things Smiley
13th January

Well, it's been a strange start to the New Year...

Firstly, it's our sad duty to let the Tau Online community know that on the 2nd of this month, Kangaroo Joe, one of our long-serving moderators, and one of the funniest members, passed away.

Secondly, Tau Online was down for almost a week due to an issue with the domain name 'tauonline.org' - things are working again now, so sorry for the inconvenience.

19th December Just an (early) note to all: Have a great Christmas and a happy New Year!
6th December At 07:33:36 PM (GMT 0+), our community forums reached half a million posts! This is a great achievment, thanks to all for helping us reach this milestone. The 500,000th post was made on December 06, 2006, 07:33:36 PM by Terminatus (in The band game).
1st December

The 24th Tau Online newsletter has been sent out, and our image galleries have been updated with new photos.

13th October

The magazine Practical Web Design (sold in the UK - costing £5.99 from WHSmith) is running a competition throughout this year (two month's left of it), whereby webmasters submit their websites and they get rated per month and the top ranked sites get put into a "Top 20" ranking.

Tau Online was submitted into that competition two months ago and on the 10th of October the new Practical Web Design came out, and Tau Online won it that month with 82/100 Smiley Overall Tau Online is 2nd in the top 20, which is great considering all the other sites are designed by adults!

1st October The image galleries have just been updated with three new painting competition photos and this month's newsletter's "Mini of the Month" image
1st September The 21st Tau Online newsletter was just e-mailed out. You can sign up for it on our Newsletter page. Also our image galleries have been updated - two winners from last month's painting competitions and the newsletter's "Mini of the Month" have been added.
22nd August Tau Online was mentioned on a CWF Game Discussions Podcast on the 20th of August. This podcast, which can be downloaded from the CWF Game Discussions website, talks about the lastets news from Mongoose Publishing and the Forgeworld website. We were mentioned at roughly 8:30 minutes into their 20th of August podcast.
20th August Tau Online was down today due to a server attack. Things should be back to normal now, although if you see any "Site hacked" errors, please let us know
18th August Just a note to those who missed last month's newsletter. We are now running three forum contests per month - this month the contests which are running (and currently accepting entries) are the "Best Fantasy", "Best Objective Marker" and "Best Artwork" competitions.
5th August

Version 6 of Tau Online has been released. Sections with many articles in are now organised into multiple pages, and you can filter all articles in a category by type. The image galleries have been re-opened also.

22nd July

The server move (below) will happen tommorow - the Fall of Medusa board will be fully down for maybe 24 - 48 hours.

Planning for AdeptiCon 2007 has begun! It's time to mark your calendars and begin making travel plans, because on March 30th through April 1st, 2007, AdeptiCon returns to the Chicagoland Schaumburg Marriott! Although registration for AdeptiCon 2007 won't open for a few months, hotel reservations can already be made by calling the Schaumburg Marriott at (847)240-0100 and asking for the "ADEPTICON" room rate ($84/night)

The AdeptiCon Council has started the process of putting together this much-anticipated event. Expect the return of some old favorites (like the 40K and Fantasy National Team Tournaments), as well as the introduction of new challenges (such as the AdeptiCon Battlefleet Gothic Championships). Along with Hobby Seminars, the Rogue Demon competition, and other exciting events, AdeptiCon 2007 promises to continue building on our tradition of excellence, striving to live up to our motto: "For Gamers, By Gamers."More information about the Adepticon event.

20th July

Parts of Tau Online will be down for a while from 4pm Sunday the 23rd of July due to a server replacement. This replacement will hopefully fix some of the speed problems the message boards have been having. The Fall of Medusa board will be completely shut during this time, and file attachments on the main forums will be disabled during this time.

21st June We've now opened the "Tau General" section for this website due to an increase in Tau articles which don't really belong elsewhere. (And to avoid confusion the previous Misc. General section has been renamed to "Other").
20th June You can now view the newest website articles by viewing the newely coded article log.
17th June Due to time constraints, we were not able to add up any new articles for a couple of months. However now things are looking better and so articles are being added up again on this website.
14th June Tau Online is linked to a website called Warvault - a community top site project. It was recently hacked although it has now been re-released. Please spread the word that it is backup and start voting for us again.
1st June Our monthly newsletter has just been mailed out. It contains much unique content so be sure to register now as to not miss out next month! You can view this month's newsletter here.
19th May After much coding and organising, we are finally ready to release our newest section - the Tau Online Medusa V Campaign forums. Check out the forums for information and planning on this upcoming campaign.
19th March

A new board has been added to the message boards - 40K Universe. This board is to discuss the fluff-side of 40K. It's only here as a trial basis however; if it's not active enough it may be removed.

Two new global moderators have been appointed - Wargamer and MalVeauX. Wargamer is an excellent and knowledgable fluff writer, and MalVeauX is a great tactica writer and informant. Good luck both!

You can now view the past newsletters that have been released. A link to this page has been added to the Newsletter page. To get the latest issues before they are added to that page, sign-up today!

7th March You can now search this site. The link to this can be found on the vertical navigation bar at the bottom, under the heading "Search Site".
7th February Tau Online has been having database troubles resulting in the forums being down for 48 hours, along with the website for a few hours. This problem is being looked into.
28th January The "History of Tau Online" article has been updated so it's easier to read, and so that it's more up-to-date.
5th January Tau Online Version 5 is released. This update brings a new design with numerous colour schemes to choose from, but the update mostly affects the articles - the presentation and organisation has generally been improved (and is more consistent). 16 new articles have also been added in various sections for this release.

The vertical navigation bar's "Other Armies" section has been re-organised so that it's easier to find articles about the army you collect.
2nd January 2006 Tau Online version 5 is almost complete. All pages are converted to the new design, and now just finishing touches are being worked on. I would imagine that this update will be out before the end of this month (Although that isn't final).
23rd December Tau Online wishes all a happy Christmas and New Year!

Progress on version 5 of the website is coming along: The majority of sections are converted to the new design and the new site should be out soon enough.
30th October AdeptiCon returns on March 24th -26th to the Chicagoland Schaumburg Marriott. To learn more, see the adeptiCon website. Along with 40K and fantasy tournaments, there are also seminars, hobbying, terrain building and more.
3th October Tau Online is part of a new webring that is being started - Warvault. Feel free to check it out over the next few weeks.
18th September There is a reason for the lack of updates recently: Version 5 of this website. V5 won't bring many new features, although there's a new, neater design and the site will be easier to navigate.

In the meantime, check out our forum contests!
25th July Afternoon A few hours work and I have got around to putting up all of the new fluff pieces! Check out the fluff section, it's packed with great new stories.
25th July Morning Very sorry about the lack of updates recently; schoolwork has been making sure that I spend as little time working on Tau Online as possible! I'm now on summer break though and so will get some work in.

There are about 20 submission waiting to be added, mostly fluff and so keep on the look-out within this next week for new fluff pieces.
3rd June Just added up a great, in-depth guide on how to add some extra detail to your Tau tanks. Check it out here- It's well worth a read.
2nd May The skin selector has been changed slightly. The only change is that when changing skin, you're no longer sent to a page which says "Changing theme.." Instead of this page, the skin is changed almost instantly.

You might need to clear your temporary internet files (Cache) to see this change take place. As I said, this isn't a big change, but it does speed things up a bit.
1st May Firstly let me apoligise for not updating the website for over a month; I've been busy with other things.

This is just to say that I am still around and I will update the website when possible. To show this I've put up 4 new submissions and more to come soon.
23rd March The layout of the boards in the forums have changed. Less boards are shown on the main page, although the boards that have been taken from the main page are still available and accessible. Read more about this here.
20th March; 3:30 pm 2 more submissions have been added up in the newest section of Tau Online: Miscellaneous Conversion Guides.
20th March; 1:30 pm This website has just put up another submission- bringing the total number of articles on Tau Online to a grand 100! This is a great number of articles to have. Check out the 100th TO article here; an imperitive read for all Witch Hunter players.
2nd March A new section has been added to the website: Tau conversion guides. Check it out, it already has three great guides in it.

The third Tau Online newsletter has been mailed out. If you don't want to miss anymore issues sign-up for it.
26th Feb 2 more submissions have been added up: One conversion and one house rule.
24th Feb As I've said below, sorry for the lack of updates. I've now added one submission, two new 40K links and fixed a few errors with the site.
7th Feb Sorry for the lack of updates, I've been fairly busy at the moment with various things. I am still around, although I haven't been able to update the website as much as I used to.
