I played my last blood angels battle a while ago, before I was inspired by the evilness of dark eldar, anyway it went something like this.
It was a small battle at my local shop, I was showing a beginner how to play, we had even points, I had a chaplain(180 pts) 1 D comp rhino (free) death company troops(also free) and one squad of troops 10 man 1 flamer 9 bolters, he had 2 troops squads and a fast attack( 3 bikes).
I rolled 5, he rolled 4, I went first.
It was a board about 30 inches wide and 48 inches long, I moved my rhino 18 inches( I had passed the overcharged engines test) and unloaded it into one of his squad of troops, I had rolled to have 6 death company, and things got real messy in there, first I rolled for my chaplain, who did well by succeeding to chop 3 poor sons of Medusa to pieces, then I had 2 power swords, 2 men fell from that, and then the rest of the squad who managed to scrape them down to 1 man, 1 man amidst a crowd of black and red, he ran off the edge of the board, my squad swooped in advance to the next squad, just out of range, my troops choice meanwhile, had slunked 6 inches forward unnoticed, and took a few pot-shots with their bolters at the bikes, but all they succeeded in doing was hitting an innocent pigeon flying past.
His turn, he first, before the man buggered off the board, got his little bolter and tried to bludgeon one of my d comp to death, which just infuriated them further, he saw how stupid the situation was and ran like there was no tomorrow. He then went "Ha-ha, I'm going to cut you to pieces with my rapid firing bolters!" and made 19 shots at my d comp and one missile, sure a couple of legs got blown off but the d comp just laughed at them and read the daily news. His bikes moved forwards and shot at the d comp, who tutted and returned to their news papers.
It was my turn again, my d comp got up after giving themselves a sun tan and turned their attention to the other squad of troops, who were on a hill, repeated screams of "Die Die!" were heard from the d comp as they smashed into the squad, butchering 7 o them, the squad wet themselves and ran down the other side of the hill, my d comp rolled one inch less and chased after them, my troops squad had entered the fray now and just for the sake of it piled in on the poor innocent little green man that was left, if only I had taken a picture, one little green blob surrounded by about 16 other models, after my d comp and troops choice ground the green dude into the mud, they turned round and glared at the bikes.
His turn saw that his bikes were in danger and moved them 12 inches across to the other side of the board, and stuck his tongue out at me.
My turn, I got my rhino, which had been standing derelict for about 3 turns, and moved 18 and skidded to a halt right in front of the 3 bikes, completely blocking their way, the rest of my men just laughed and blew the heck out of them.
It was a fun match, but the staff at the store said that your not supposed to be that mean to beginners...

| Advice for the beginner... Check his rules out, make sure he's playing right. Don't you only get one free d comp for every troop choice? Yes? Yes, it is... just what I thought. So, you had an illegally free d comp, 1 troop, and an expensive hq. Congrats! For the beginner... send a squad of guys to tie up d comp some how, or just don't get close to them. Take out his other guys first. D comp is there to take a beating and laugh. And what rules are you using that allow you to assault out of rhinos, 3rd? Cause you can't do that in 4th. Blood Angels were the most broken army in 3rd, that's why you use those rules, right? Who wouldn't? Get straight and play the game right. |
