Thanks to Tau Online for this.

Hunter Cadre Invincible

As the vast Tau empire expanded and started encountering many more races and worlds, a specific need for a valuable close-combat unit was noticed. Ever since, a special sect of the Tau, called the Hunters, have been training to handle a sword as well as their guns.

After many a Tau'cyr, the sect were ready to step out into the battlefields and help the Tau...

For the body, head and legs you should use either a Pathfinder or a Fire Warrior, I used a pathfinder.

You can use any sword for the forest cutter, and you can make the gun look however you want as long as it looks a bit hi-tech. The way I made the gun was to get a Tau bonding knife and stick something from my bits box on top of that.

Tau Sword Pistol = Weird but very cool!

i could make a better paint job, but that is not crappy modelling. it is cool with the sword and all, too

The paint job is atrocious, but I have personally seen much, much worse. I don\'t like the whole thing about him having a sword either because Tau are definitely not made for hand-to-hand combat, but it looks cool.

I like this the sword looks cool but personally I think it would look better on a kroot but nice work any ways.

it cool but that isnt the Tau idea of war. they use hi-tech weaponry to dispatch their foes. stiil cool though. makes them less cowardly and kill their opponents face-to-face in styled combat. Tau out.
end trasmistion....

i think the tau have a great idea by staying completely range type troops, they rely on firepower much like our modern style of warfare, with fire support units, besides if u want cool hand to hand combat people u should n't really play Tau

You really have over-painted this havent you. Also, you have used a gun which would probably be considered vulgar to te Tau, I cant see what it is though... It might be a pulse pistol but I doubt it... , also, this would only owrk in the Farsight enclaves, and there it would be a normal Carbine if it was a pathfinder with a blade hung by its side in its other hand, a bit of improvement and this could come off nicely

WTH!?

Comment made by Tony on 16:07:41, 17 December 2006
You need to highlight colours. Tau don't like close combat anyway

Comment made by Inq_Razeil on 06:57:17, 10 December 2006
over done, people get obsesed with moding models, every one has gone throught that phase. including my self. it hard to discribe, but try and keep your models codex and clean, (tip build up white in thin coats for a strong bold colour)

really bad

Comment made by The MilkyBar kid on 10:26:12, 22 November 2006
whats the point if u have kroot

Comment made by Garenas on 18:03:42, 18 November 2006
Yes, it says right in their history that the tau do not like physical struggle and when necesary it is resolved in ranged fighting. If not for the kroot or vespid, the tau would rely completely on drones and cover to make sure they were not engaged in melee.

Comment made by stsonic on 10:39:12, 18 November 2006
the whole "a specific need for a valuable close-combat unit was noticed"
don't thet have kroot for that?
