Thanks to Technoman for this.
Leechius sent a volley of rounds from his Storm Bolter into the top floor of the building to his right. In return multiple bursts of lasfire peppered the ground around him. The shots that hit just glanced off the shoulder-pads of his Tactical Dreadnought armour with a low ping. The heretic defenders of this traitor world were putting up stiff resistance but they were no match for mighty Adeptus Astares. They had left the Imperium for ‘freedom' and were now tainted by the filth of chaos. The galaxy had to be cleansed of them. The Rhino beside him began to pour fire into the lower levels with its own pintle-mounted storm bolter. It raised one level before the heretic defenders scored a direct hit with a missile that blew the roof of the driver's compartment and the storm-bolter fixed to it straight off.
These heretics were well armed, Leechius thought but they were no match for one of the God Emperor's chosen sons. He was a Terminator Ecclesiarch of the Ultramarines Astares chapter, instrument of His will. Mustering all his strength and using his newly bestowed force-staff to channel his power, he launched bolts of pure psychic energy at the top floor, where the missile had came from. The loud cracking bangs of the lightning-like bolts impact would have deafened a lesser man but his genetically enhanced eardrums were not affected in the slightest.
He charged at the door and smashed it open with a swipe of his force-staff.
Three of them stood across the room from him, horrid blasphemies all of them. They were once men but the foul taint of chaos has mutated them into grotesque beasts. One had the head of some form of insect, another had the arms of a reptile and the biggest one looked like some wilder beast, with matted fur all over. It came to the same height as Leechius. All three were momentarily in awe of him and he gave no chance to regain themselves. With a burst of his storm bolter they were torn into meaty chunks. He heard the sound of feral yelling, lasfire and some solid slug weapon coming from upstairs. They had Tactical squad Matadoran pinned down across the street. Leechius and the squad had became separated from the convoy to flush out the survivors of this hive, holed up in this headquarters building.
"Matadoran." Leechius said over the vox-network
"Yes, sir"
"I am in the building and am about to ascent to the second level, cover me."
"Affirmative, sir. Covering."
Leechius heard the shift in the gunfire. And rushed up the stairs two at a time. He came up on the left side of a large room with a battered vox-castor on a table in the centre and crates of ammo around it. The first creature to see him was the one operating the vox. It tried to yell out but was stopped with a shell to the head. Leechius looked over to the window where 11 heretics were firing down upon his fellow marines. The solid slug he had heard was an ancient looking autocannon in the middle of the heretics. Eight of them looked round but the three manning the autocannon didn't break from their task. Leechius shot down two with a burst from his storm bolter. He charged at the others yelling,
"Deny the Emperor, die by my hand!"
He sent the first one out the window with a blow from his staff. The second shot him point-blank with its ancient looking laspistol but did not penetrate his holy armour. It was awarded with a severed head. He dispatched another with a lunge of his staff that went clean through its torso. He shot a three-round burst that took down two more. One had some kind of barbed sword in place of one arm and smashed it into his leg. Its daemonic energy penetrated and bit into his thigh. With its enthusiasm the creature had got its arm stuck and was crushed by his other leg standing on its head. He sprayed the room with fire and killed another 4. The one remaining was the operator of the autocannon. It yelled in a filthy language that Leechius did not under stand and raised its arms high.
"The price of false freedom is death!" Leechius roared smashing is aside so hard it ripped in two.
Leechius heard inhuman hissing and clawing and turned around to see dozens of filthy chaos beast climbing in from blast holes on the opposite side of the room. These were not just mutated rebels; these were true daemons of the Chaos Gods. This was no more a rebellion, this was a chaos invasion!
He raised his staff, took aim with his storm bolter and charged, yelling:
"For Justice! For Ultramar!
FOR THE EMPEROR!
