Thanks to Ravager Zero for this.

Hi, I'm Ravager Zero... and welcome to: Pimp my 'Fish!

A quick check of the conversion pictures at the bottom of the article should give you a good enough reference to solve most problems. ;D

You will need

Instructions

First, assemble the main hull of the tank, Top, bottom and inside sections. leave the rear and side sections (the ones that have the hatches) off for now.

Assemble the engines, we'll come back to them later, but we can build them to save time.

From the front, each winglet has three little 'notches' under it:

__|-|_|-|_|-|__

There is a similar pattern at the back of the winglet. Using something sharp, or a good marker, trace a line from the inside edge of the notch closest to the body at the front, to the same notch at the back. Do the same for the other winglet.

Here is where patience comes in handy, as it's going to take a while (3-6 mins per side) to get a nice, clean, straight cut with hobby saw through that much plastic.

Assemble the side sections of the tank (the ones that hold the hatches), pinning/adding magnets as desired. You will now need to trim off the engine mounting lugs, so that they lie flat with the outermost point of the section.

/

Get the Sky Ray turret 'wings'. Clip off the dangly bit at the front, so the underside of the wings are level. Also trim off the Seeker missile 'clips' under the wings.

Now, if the previous steps have been done correctly, the Sky Ray turret wings should slide, with a little jiggling, in to the holes made by the removal of the drone cradles at the front of the devilfish hull. Angle to taste, and glue in place.

Take both small flying bases, and cut them in to sections using the hobby saw.

|_|o|_|
\____/

The four (I'm assuming you cut both bases to the same pattern) triangular sections can now go above and below the glued in Sky Ray wings. These not only look nice, but also reinforce the join.

Next, take all the SMS pods, trim off any joining lugs, and test fit them between the winglets you have just added, some jiggling will be required. Next, mark on the two pods that are between the winglets the angle they should be cut on in order to point straight forwards. The other SMSs rest on the lower forward winglet, with its back touching the sky ray turret wing.

Where the top hatch/cupola would normally go, glue in the Gun Drone body (less guns of course), which should fit in there quite snugly. Next, take the bit normally holds the chin turret on, and glue that on top of the gun drone body.

Underneath, take the inner-most chin turret ring, and glue it in place, to the chin mount, then take the unused top hatch, trim off the hinges, and glue it over the ring. It should just fit.

Now, take the battlesuit burst cannon, a little trimming may be required, and glue it to the side of the section that the front landing gear goes in. On the other side, glue in whatever you use for a targeting array (in my case, one of the networked markerlights).

Put on your landing gear, open or closed. (to close the landing gear, simply clip off the hydraulic sections). Add any wargear conversions; Decoy launchers, multi-trackers, seekers, etc; and then you're done.

As a final touch, greenstuff up any gaps, and use it to smooth down any unsightly joins.

So, anyway, with 1 Sky Ray kit, a spare drone (of which all Tau players have coming out the wazoo...) some 'spare' small flying bases and a lot of glue, hacking and other fun stuff, comes this beast, the Advanced Warfish.

@Olle P: you mean something along the lines of: This will end in a kick-ass looking Warfish, with Sky Ray wings instead of Drone Cradles.

This project seems to have great potential.

The article is somewhat thin though. What I really miss is an initial target description.
What is the finished vehicle supposed to be and look like?
