Thanks to Farseer Tyross for this.

Tendered for your attention is this most holy treaty about the Chapter we have come to know and fear as the Fists of Flame, one of the most devout and loyal Chapters to have served in recent millennia.

Organisation/Leadership

The Fists of Flame are not like the more orthodox Chapters, and instead have an organisation system which has proven successful in their long history. They have eschewed the common Company structure, and instead the Chapter is organised around a core of "Masters." These Masters are amongst the most able warriors, skilled tacticians, and respected leaders amongst the Chapter's brethren.

It is these Masters that are called to war, bringing with them the support of Astartes tanks and squads that they believe are required for the task at hand. It is a matter of honour that a Master only call upon strength he will be needing after a tactical analysis of the crisis the Chapter has been sent to deal with. Thusly, the Chapter can send an army of no more then twenty Space Marines or upwards of over five hundred in the direst circumstances and it has been known for several Masters to come together to fight off a threat which appeared smaller then it actually was.

And the rank of Master is not only open to the most experienced Battle Brothers, but also to the numerous other ranks, such as members of the Apothecarium, the Librarium and the keepers of Chapter's grand Monasteries, the Chaplains. Furthermore it is also open to a number of external sources, although they are few and far between, the most notable one being the Inquisitor-Lord Holt of the Ordo: Hereticus.

In addition, where other Chapters have a Veteran, or 1st Company, the Fists of Flame Veterans are spread throughout the army, each and every Veteran Sergeant able to take to the field of battle wearing the blessed suits of Terminator armour.

Current Strength

The Chapter, by some estimates, numbers around 900 Space Marines, whilst other place the figure at a little over 55%, although such sources which state this are often from external sources, and the Chapter is not forth-coming with such figures, preferring to be called account by the Adeptus Ministorium like many other Chapters.

However, it is also noted that they have retained great many of their original fighting vehicles and their precious suits of tactical Dreadnought armour, and as such have been known to field small armies of Terminators in the most dire of circumstances, the most notable being the Purging of Brandon Minoris (327.M38) after a vast army of the daemonic beings spewed into our universe.

Appearance/Chapter Colours

When they were first created, the Fists of Flame wore silver armour, with flame motives painted over their silver armour on their shoulder pads and lower leg greaves, but since the Second War for Tarsiss III, at the degree of Chapter Master Mars Aran, they had their silver armour repainted a brilliant white in honour of the fallen and to signify that they have come through that terrible event purer of spirit and of body. Their fighting vehicles are also painted in the same scheme of colours that the Astartes do, and many of which feature the striking flame motive which adorns ever aspect of the Fists of Flame life.

In addition to their other marked diversions from the Codex: Astartes in that they don't force Companies, they also show marked divergence to how they show unit markings. All Astartes allowed to wear the precious Terminator armour paint their right knee armour yellow, whilst their left knee armour is reserved for their squad type.

Beliefs/Gene Seed

To the Fists of Flame, belief in the Emperor is all encompassing, infiltrating every part of their lives, and they hold a special feast once each year in honour of the master of Mankind, and it is often said that they offer up the bodies of the slain to Him as an act of worship, although these rumours have never been proven despite strict Inquisitorial investigations into this bizarre and morbid practice. However, what has been proven is that they're Chaplains are exceptionally gifted orators with the ability to cast aside the doubts of their Battle Brothers with well chosen and stirring words.

Although there is one facet of their existence which many hold to be self evident and of which prove has been found and quantified. Since the Second War for Tarsiss III (798.M38) they have held a strong believe in genetic purity, and throughout the years since, have screened out anything deemed heretical to the overly strict Apothecarium practices. As such any trace as to the original of their gene seed has been virtually removed, although there have been rumours that it was, originally taken from the gene seed of the Salamander legion, and the surviving records hint at such a possibility but nothing concrete has been found regarding the specifics.

It is therefore entirely possible that they venerate Vulkan as their founding Primarch, although such evidence doesn't exist as to preclude this as a certainty.

Homeworld

The Fists of Flame originally herald from the Imperial world of Tarsiss III, a shrine world located in the neighbouring sector to the Eye of Terror. However, this was not to last, as during the Second War for the said world ended abruptly with the complete destruction of their home world. It was the guns of the very Astartes fleet brought to bear to save the world under the direct command of Inquisitor-Lord Holt himself. Tarsiss III is rendered a barren rock to prevent the Chaos incursion by the Nurgle Lord known as Damius.

Since then, they have had a blood debt with the Nurgle Lord.

Combat Doctrine

The Fists of Flame fight almost exclusively in close quarters combat, preferring to get to grip with the enemy instead of engaging in short and long ranged fire fights with their enemies. It was not always the case, before the destruction of their home world; they followed the teachings of the Codex: Astartes closer then they do now. Their former ways forced them into vicious trench warfare, giving the vile plagues chance to work in the stagnated battle lines. Since then, they have taken the fight to the enemy, instilling a training regime which has proven effective at transforming the fighting force of the Chapter into one of the most feared combat forces.

Upon entering a heated war zone, the make use of teleport attacks, drop pods and Thunderhawk attacks, pressing their attack against the enemy with brutal infantry assaults.

*sigh*... there's Ultimate-Uber-Awesome, Highly Original, Quite Original, Not Bad, Aboriginal, Boring and Ultramarines. Predictably, the Flame Fists are top of the list.
