Thanks to Jonazz for this.

"At the Damoncles Gulf Crusade, members of the Earth caste noticed that the Imperial Guard used different heavy weapons to give their infantry some mobile fire support. After a few battles they discovered that the Broadside XV88 wasn't mobile enough to support the Fire warriors. After some field-testing, two Fire warriors armed with a heavy weapon commonly mounted on a battlesuit seemed just right, the Support weapon team was born"

interesting idea but most of those weapons are assault 1,2, or 3 and how often do you see a moving heavy weapon squad?

Seems like a remake of IG heavy weps teams, I'll bet it is.

Anyways the Guards Heavy weps options all have a range of 36"+. If you used the plasma rifle on marines that would be awful close to them, including you don't have the mobility of a battlesuit you'd be mince meat in a matter of seconds. Also the weapons of IG heavy weps teams are well, heavy, this is why they stay away and shoot at tanks instead of getting in 'too' close. If you want and armoured weapons platform for 30pts use a battlesuit.

The armour is improved becuase the warriors hide behind the gun .It is a should be a point cost but the admin
dident include it in the article.
but the points is as follows:
Fusion blaster melta gun 15pts
plasma rifle 20pts
burst cannon 8pts
Missile pod 12pts

hmm, I dont see why they have a 3+ save. If they are just support platforms, they're armour is no better than what it was before. Also, it seems that the weapons choices should have a certain points cost to be effective. Otherwise, everyone would just take the plasma rifle. Also, 30 points for a BS4 plasma rifle toter with +1 to cover, 2 wounds and a 3+ cover save seems a little to good to me. Nice Idea though, just needs a little tweaks

By the way, this shouldn't be on "House Rules"?

Comment made by Jon-azz on 06:19:04, 17 July 2007
Im Jonazz.
maybye you could have an option that replaces the stealth field generator with a shield generator.

Also, awsome conversions/paint job ;D

Comment made by Walrus man on 23:53:46, 16 July 2007
10/10 ;D however, I would consider removing the shield generator as an option as they already have a stealth field generator.

In fact, 10/10. :D
