Thanks to John Holmes for this.

Fire Warriors: Urban Snow Tau

When I decided to build a Tau army, deciding what I wanted wasn't difficult. It was the colour scheme that was the tricky part. Eventually (after much deliberation) I decided to go with an urban snow camouflage feel. Firstly I basecoated the models with Chaos Black.

I then painted the armour in Enchanted Blue and highlighted the edges with Ice Blue. With the piranha design I simply painted Ice Blue patterns over the ship and edged it off with Skull White.

To distinguish the Commanders I painted various armour parts in Skull White.

To add variation to the designs I used Regal Blue on the rifle.

Any metal areas (especially on the Crisis Suit) I used Boltgun Metal as the base colour and highlighted it in Chainmail.

Once the armour was painted, I went back over any areas with Chaos Black to neaten the models up.

For the Stealth Suit, I used mainly Regal Blue to keep the slick look. And again, edged the armour in Ice Blue.

For the bases I used polystyrene for the rocks and snow flock.

Here are some of my models once I had finished them... Keep in mind the Fire Warrior squad (above) aren't finished as of yet.

if this is snow camoflague, wouldn\'t the blue sorta stick out in the snow? try using lighter shades of blue, like space wolves grey for example.

Comment made by Aunvre on 15:11:54, 9 December 2006
like the stealth suit. Good job.

Comment made by Vayne on 03:51:22, 3 December 2006
This is a truly awsome colour scheme, and is very tau like, i think the highlighting particulaly works not too bright and not to indistinguishable

Comment made by Firebird4Life on 07:17:51, 27 November 2006
Wow! I think this looks great! The details are amazingly good. The only thing I don't like is the ice blue. I would've went with white or the Regal Blue instead. But much better than my guys will look!

Comment made by jammie on 07:24:43, 25 November 2006

Very clean, very "Tau-ish"

Comment made by Tau Online on 11:02:35, 30 October 2006
Yeah my thoughts exactly. This scheme is really nice... if I was a Fire Warrior in battle I wouldn't fight as I'd be too busy checking out my armour! Or something like that... Good scheme anywhoo! :-P

Comment made by noble tau on 15:49:56, 29 October 2006
