Thanks to Wargamer for this.
The Armoured Companies of the Tau are not as common as their Imperial counterparts. However, such forces do exist, and they combine speed and manoeuvrability with overwhelming firepower.
For the most part, the Armoured Companies are composed of less orthodox Hammerhead variants, allowing them to engage and destroy their enemies, as well as test out the more unorthodox Hammerhead variants.
Many in the Shas'Ar'Tol wish for Armoured Companies composed entirely of the more common Hammerheads, but the demand for such vehicles among the Infantry hunter-cadres means there is never enough to go around.

A Heavy assault tank designed for extreme armour-hunting. The Swordfish is designed to compliment the Hammerhead, rather than replace it. Faults with Swordfish, combined with high maintenance requirements, means that the Swordfish is rarely used in battle.

| Swordfish | 190 pts | 13 | 12 | 10 | 3 (4) |

Every element in a Tau army supports another, if you take just hammerheads they will be toasted, and grilled. How will you deal with massed infantry? guard have like 100+ models sometimes, your list is only effective at taking out one thing.... IG armoured companies.

Good idea, but I think you've gone a bit overboard with the hammerheads. An armoured squadron would be likely to have mobile support (skyrays) and mech infantry (FW in DF). I'd suggest something like: HQ - As you said/crisis suit Elites - Hammerhead Squadron/crisis teams Troops - FW mounted in DF/drone squadrons FA - Piranhas/tetras/pathfinders (have to take DF anyway) HS - Hammerhead squadron/skyray squadron/heavy gun drones It's not prefect but it's closer to how I'd imagine a real armoured company would fight. use the squadron rules from the imperial guard armoured fist compy stuff, and remember very few battles end up like Kursk.

Very well made, however the Swordfish is not equipped with a twin linked railgun... its equipped with a twin linked HEAVY rail gun. Its a titan killer tank. Good use of forgeworld units as well. Replace pathfinders with Piranhas.

Great idea, but I can't open the link to the Forge World site, and thus cannot read the document....
