Thanks to UN17 for this.
This specialized anti-armor unit provides heavy ground support by capitalizing on its superior range and concentrated firepower. Conversely, Unit 17 is not equipped for conflict against forces of vastly superior numbers such as Tyranid swarms or Ork hordes. Fortunately, it has yet to encounter such opposition.
The Tau'n 125th Expeditionary unit has brought with it new XV88 Broadside battlesuits and a squad of Firewarriors from the academy on Tal'shio II. The expeditionary unit has taken Unit 17's group of Kroot mercenaries under their wing as they proceed further towards the Damocles Gulf.
In return, they have left two armor units, a Devilfish Transport and a Hammerhead Gunship armed with a full scale submunitions capable railgun. Requests for a Pathfinder team are still being processed by the Central Authority.
Kauyon Kampfer has been left on the perimeter of the Damocles Gulf while the majority of Tau forces proceed to Fal'Shia to defend against the increasing threat of Tyranid invasion from Hive fleet Kraken. The Imperium, though violently stubborn, seem to be withdrawing from the Tau controlled territory near Unit 17.
Intelligence reports indicate that the Human Imperialist armies, including their elite Space Marines, are experiencing internal problems caused by renegade sects known as Chaos. While the Imperium may be withdrawing, these renegade sects have been appearing in Tau space, and attempts for peaceful negotiations have ended in bloodshed.
Addtionally, Kauyon Kampfer had a brief encounter with a machine race identified as the Necrons. Unit 17 was able to defend a settlement from the Necron Monolith, but it and its warriors vanished into the air after taking moderate damage. The Ethereal has ordered that Kauyon Kampfer remain on high alert in the event of a repeat attack.

| Very nice list... well balanced. As per Vespids in such an army, I do not think it would be worth replacing their points value in FW to get them in. Seeing as they are jump infantry, and not jet pack like crisis suits, they can only move once, then shoot. Against any foe this anti-armour composition would be good against (SM, armoured company, DH, WH, etc.) the usual (and very understandable) reaction is "AAAH! Vespids!!! Kill them!!!". There's my answer. I would, however, suggest Kroot (for a 2k list)... they are gold as cannon-fodder (target priority!) and, with a krootox - or two! - will pwn at a distance and H2H. Good luck, comrades. For the Greater Good! |

| They're just pictures put into a table. You'd have to ask UN17 (the article writer) for permission to use them. |
